The Turkish occupation state continues to fight the peoples of the region with various means, its war reaching water, for more than 3 months it has blocked more than half of Syria’s share of the Euphrates River, which might cause an imminent disaster.

The governments of Damascus, Ankara and Baghdad concluded an agreement stipulating that Syria had a share of 500 cubic meters per second of the Euphrates water, of which 60% was Iraq’s share, and that was in 1987.

Regarding withholding water, the dignitaries of the Arab tribes in the town of Jazaa in the countryside of Tal Hamis in Qamishlo canton expressed their anger at the occupation practices hostile to the peoples of North and East Syria.

Kamal Al-Jamal, a notable of the Arab Shammar tribe in the town of Jazaa, confirmed that "Blocking Euphrates water from Syria caused a disaster, especially after drought ravaged the area, which negatively affected the ways of life, especially agriculture and drinking water and electricity cut off."

Al-Jamal considered this a "blatant attack and a continuation of the war waged by Turkey against the peoples of the region."

'Turkey is far from humanity'

He pointed to sharing river water between Syria and Turkey, and said: "There is an international quota system agreed between the two countries, but Turkey turns a blind eye to, and has not paid any attention to international laws and is far from humanity, and this negatively affects the residents of the region."

He stressed that the Autonomous Administration hastened to take measures regarding the blocking of water, and delivered it through water tanks to all neighborhoods, in order to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe.

‘Leading Syrian people to thirst’

Talib Hilal, one of the elders of the Arab Shammar tribe, denounced the goal of the Turkish state to lead the Syrian people to thirst, especially since the region is on the verge of summer, and it is in dire need of water because this year is dry, and there is a need for electricity.

He explained, "Turkey's policy and Erdogan's arrogance are not new to the region, and the goal is to make the people of the region retreat from their demand for freedom."

Hilal stressed, "they will not back down from demanding freedom, and they will be one hand against the arrogance of the Turkish attacks that are trying to dominate its hegemony over North and East Syria and plunder its wealth, as in the occupied cities."

Hilal added, "Turkey, with its policy, is trying to starve the people, diverting their attention from their basic issue and distracting themselves from the living situation."

'Turkey has been trying to control the region's capabilities for a long time'

Hamed Al-Adhaib, a representative of Al-Jawwala clan in Filastin Garbiya village in Tal Hamis district, confirmed, "Blocking the water of the Euphrates River has economic repercussions and consequences on the region," stating that it is a "political act to strike at the unity of peoples."

Al-Adhaib called on all peoples to unify their ranks to confront the plans of the Turkish occupation, saying: "The peoples must stand together to face this occupation, which is trying to control the gains of the region."
