Deir Ezzor Water Directorate: imminent catastrophe will sweep region

Fears emanating from the Euphrates water recession are growing lately by people in Deir Ezzor after swamps and quagmires were made on the basin on the river.

The Euphrates Syrian section terminates in Deir Ezzor after entering Syrian soil in Jarablus. Low levels of water pose people's fears of endemics more specifically in time of third mutation of corona virus spread that is more likely to be more dangerous in it's fourth mutation.

Husain Turki, o-chair of the Dier Ezzor Water Directorate made it clear that water stations of Kuber, Sa'wa and Zigher that pump water to tens of villages in western Deir Ezzor are now out of service completely that foresee an imminent health catastrophe. Husain said that people are now obliged to but drink water from water tanks that involves dire repercussions for that water is not clean and may not be usable.

Husain pointed out to another problem that is od power cut in the whole region as dams generators are stopped.

From his part head of the Peasants' Society in Deir Ezzor Mohamed Eid said that wheat corps and the agriculture section in the region has been damaged as they were in grave need of irrigation due to the drought that swept the region and water pumps are out of use for up to five months all entailing heavy losses on people.

Both Husain Turki and Mohamed Eid called on the United Nations and the human rights associations to bear the accounts towards this catastrophic conditions that sweeps Syria and to pressure Turkey to neutralize Euphrates River in it's aspiration to occupy the region at large.

Earlier, both the Raqqa and Tabqa Water Directorates warned against an imminent catastrophe after phosphor impurities and other poisonous materials were found in the water that was analyzed.
