Al-Sisi confirms his country backs Greece against any provocations in Mediterranean

Al-Sisi said during talks with the President of Greece, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, that his country stands by Greece against any provocations in the Mediterranean, and stressed that "Signing the demarcation of the border reflects the volume of optimism and the strength of relations" between the two sides.

For her part, Katerina Sakellaropoulou told al-Sisi, "We will talk with you about the dangerous escalation of Turkey and the continuing violations in the region."

The Egyptian President is making an official visit to Greece where he arrived on Tuesday, and the visit will last for several days, according to Egyptian media.

On Tuesday, the Egyptian presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady said, "The president's visit to Greece comes within the framework of the two friendly countries’ keenness on continuous consultations at the bilateral level, in addition to the tripartite level with Cyprus, as the president is expected to hold in-depth discussions with the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as well as a meeting with the President of the Republic, the Speaker of Parliament, and the Greek Minister of Energy and Environment. "

According to Rady, "It is also expected to discuss and exchange views on various regional and international issues of common interest, foremost among which are developments in the situation in the eastern Mediterranean region, as well as combating terrorism and extremist ideology."
