Greek MP: Turkey not licensed to issue NAFTEX in the Greek zone

Member of the Greek parliament Angelos Serigos, made clear that Turkey" is not licensed to issue the NAFTEX notification in this place as such, the area belongs to Greek authorities since 1917s".

In an interview with the Sky News Arabia, he accused Ankara of prevarication, adding:" it is not the question of who has the right, the question is why Turkey had decided to implement this illegal activity, while three days ago the Turkish Foreign Minister had promised the Greek prime minister to specify a date for negotiations on the oil exploration between the two countries, why Turkey breaks such a promise". 

He continued " from a neutral point of view, these waters are disputed, and so the two states have to avoid doing illegal activities", accusing Turkey of doing such a conduct.  

Serigos, a professor in international law and foreign policy at the University of Panteion in Athens, believes " Turkey tries to interfere in different areas in the Middle East, Syria, Iraq, Libya, Nagorno Karabakh and Armenia. There are problems where Turkey is the common factor that destabilizes the region. 

In a new escalation from the part of Ankara, the Turkish Navy announced that Oruç Reis would do a seismic survey in the east of Mediterranean in the coming ten days, starting from Monday until October 27th. 

From its part, Greece denounced Turkey's sending of the ship to do the seismic survey, in the south of a Greek island describing the measure as antagonistic and illegal.
