The head of the Turkish Future Party, Ahmet Davutoglu, slammed the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, describing him and his family as "the major calamity that befell the country."

The nation will be patient, but what calamity it will have patience on? Who caused this calamity? If Erdogan means patience with poverty, unemployment, inflation, corruption and injustice, then we must ask about the reason for all of this.” He said.

The head of the Future Party added during a conference of his party in the city of Mersin, southern Turkey, saying: "You are the calamity. The major calamity that befell this people is the regime that has turned the country into a disastrous family business."

He touched on Erdogan's policy of exploiting the political situation in the country, noting that he was forced to ally with a Nationalist Party and a Left-Wing party in order to remain in power, referring to the "National Movement" parties led by Devlet Bahceli, and the "Homeland Party" led by Dogu Prinjek.
