The press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, said, "We have intelligence information confirming the transfer of mercenaries to Karabakh, in addition to the information issued by the Armenian Ministry of Defense in this regard."

Peskov’s comments came after the dialogue that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad held with the Russian “Novosti” agency about Turkey's use of its mercenaries in the battles in the Karabakh region between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Of note, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed earlier that Turkey had transferred 1,200 Syrian and Libyan mercenaries to the Nagorno Karabakh region to fight alongside the Azeri army in the raging clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan since September.
