"She did not commit suicide, you killed her"

Under the slogan "She Did Not Commit Suicide, You Killed Her," Sara organization in coordination with the Kongra Star and women institutions in Kobane canton initiated a campaign to curb the murders and suicides of women after their increase in the canton.

Kobane canton has recently witnessed a significant increase in cases of murder and suicide of women, reaching 7 cases, including 2 suicides, 2 murders, and 3 suspected cases between suicides or murders, while investigations are still underway, and 11 attempted suicide cases have occurred since the beginning of this year.

On the initiative of the Sara Organization to Combat Violence against Women and in coordination with the Kongra Star and the institutions concerned with women's affairs in Kobane canton, a campaign was launched on the 21^st of this month under the slogan "She Did Not Commit Suicide, You Killed Her," with the aim of limiting these crimes against women.

The campaign includes hanging posters of women's pictures who have been exposed to murders and suicides, publishing a hashtag on social media, distributing leaflets calling for the curbing of these crimes to people, holding awareness lectures for women and meetings to discuss these incidents.

In this context, the Administrator of Sara Organization in the Euphrates region, Zozan Khalil, spoke about the goals of the campaign, saying: "We started with this campaign to attract our society's attention to the crimes that happen against women, so that they do not remain in hiding because our society wants to hide and remain silent about these crimes."

Zozan noted that they will continue the campaign and organize events despite the curfew imposed in the region. She said: "Due to the curfew imposed on the region, our activities are limited to hanging banners, distributing leaflets, and publishing hashtags, but the campaign program also includes awareness lectures for women and meetings that we postponed until the curfew is ended."

The Crisis Cell in the Euphrates region issued a circular containing a set of decisions on the 19 of this month that prevent gatherings and events after the spread of the new Corona virus in the region and limit its spread.
