He said that Iran is violating its obligations in the nuclear deal, noting that the conditions for activating Iran's "Snapback" sanctions are available.

Hook added, "The Security Council was responsible for extending the resolution of the arms embargo on Iran," and stressed that the Security Council would re-impose sanctions on Iran within a month, accusing Paris, London and Beijing of breaching their obligation to Tehran's sanctions.

This came after European countries, in a statement on Thursday, opposed Washington's effort to re-impose UN sanctions on Iran, and Britain, France and Germany said, on Thursday, that they could not support the US move, saying that the move was inconsistent with efforts to support the nuclear deal with Iran.

The three countries also said in a joint statement, "In order to preserve the agreement, we urge Iran to abstain from all measures that are inconsistent with its obligations under the nuclear deal, and to return to full compliance (the terms of the agreement) without delay."

On Thursday, Washington formally submitted a request to activate the trigger mechanism - automatic return - for comprehensive sanctions on Iran, as the United Nations received an American message to activate sanctions on Iran for not adhering to the nuclear agreement and Resolution 2,231.
