Internal Security identifies cell accused of killing 3 members in Sanamein

The head of the Internal Security Forces in Daraa announced that a cell accused of being responsible for the killing of three Internal Security Forces members in the city of Sanamein had been identified. He said weapons, ammunition, explosive devices and equipment for manufacturing explosives were seized, while efforts to track down the remaining members of the cell are ongoing.

Brig. Gen. Hossam Mamoun al-Tahan, head of the Internal Security Forces in Daraa province, said that, following monitoring and pursuit operations, the Internal Security Forces had identified the cell responsible for the killing of three of its members in Sanamein, in northern rural Daraa.

Al-Tahan told the SANA news agency that the investigation showed the cell was led by “Mohsen al-Haimed and Ahmad al-Othman,” also known as “Al-Kashki.” He said security forces seized weapons, ammunition and explosive devices ready for detonation, as well as equipment for manufacturing explosives inside their two homes during search and combing operations.

He added that the Internal Security Forces are continuing to pursue the remaining members of the cell with the aim of arresting all those involved and referring them to the competent judiciary.

The announcement comes after three Internal Security Forces members were killed and others injured yesterday during a security raid on a house in Sanamein. The raid was followed by clashes with several wanted individuals, amid heightened security tensions and the imposition of a curfew in the city.
