Lebanon seeks to negotiate with America to request exceptions to "Caesar Law"

Lebanese government sources revealed that Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and the government, Hassan Diab, discussed in their meeting the day before yesterday the "Caesar Law" from the angle of the government's initiative to reach an agreement with Washington to obtain exceptions related to not preventing Lebanon from dragging 220 megawatts of electricity from Syria to compensate lack of electrical current and its use to feed some areas of it, especially those that suffer from the programmed rationing targeting it.

The sources pointed out that the exceptions will include the passage of trucks loaded with Lebanese agricultural and industrial products to the Arab countries through the Syrian gate.

The sources said that Washington had previously responded to Iraq's request to continue dragging its need of electricity from Iran, which is listed on the US sanctions list.

It revealed that Jordan agreed to respond to Lebanon's request to supply it with the energy that Jordan buys from Syria, in the event that Washington did not respond to Lebanon's request to obtain exceptions, but Damascus informed those who contacted it for this purpose that it refused to draw energy from Jordan to Lebanon through its territory.
