Newspaper: US pushes “regime” towards uncertainty, not paying attention to ISIS killers

Reports saw that the United States’ policy pushed towards the collapse of the Syrian currency, thinking that it might topple the “regime,” but it has not paid attention to the people who fought with it against ISIS, who will also be disastrously affected by the collapse of the Syrian currency.

The Israeli Jerusalem Post said: “The Syrian regime thought it was finally out of its almost decade-long civil war. It recaptured southern Syria in 2018 and has pushed up against US forces along the Euphrates River. It has launched offensives on Idlib with Russian and Iranian backing.”

It added: “In October 2019, the Turkish attack on US-backed anti-ISIS fighters even enabled the regime to take over parts of eastern Syria, while shops are now closed in parts of Syria due to the collapse of the Syrian currency to very low levels.”

According to the newspaper: “The regime is gutted and weak. It has no finances and it is fighting internally within the Assad ruling clan. That means it is like a house of cards, very fragile, even Russia cannot save it.”

Russia also has economic challenges and is involved in the Libyan conflict. New US sanctions now and other problems are causing Damascus to witness a catastrophic weakening of the Syrian currency. The precipitous decline harms all the Syrians who are within or out of regime regions.

Despite the decline in military conflicts and the attempts of Russia, Iran, and Turkey to remove the United States from Syria, new and unexpected crises began to emerge.

This illustrates how even when the conflict seems to be winding down, and Russia, Iran and Turkey increasingly work to divide Syria and drive the US out. Unforeseen new crises are emerging. Syria is still in the crosshairs of numerous different struggles, and turned into a Gordian Knot(A legend that indicates a serious and intractable problem, which can only be solved by making a courageous decision) with the connection of all these conflicts in this country.

According to the newspaper: “The currency crisis has no clear end result. The US has pushed to weaken the currency, but may not realize that this also has ramifications in areas where the US is present.”

It concluded: “However US officials have generally shown no interest for the economic situations of millions of Syrians who helped in the liberation from ISIS control.”
