​​​​​​​Abdullah: Expanded plan underway to occupy Başûr

The co-chair of the Freedom Movement spoke to Hawar about the latest events in Başûr of Kurdistan, particularly the Goran Movement and the KDP's direct role in the recent attacks. He said: "Başûr is internally occupied."

Mohammed Abdullah said that the Turkish state has invaded Başûr building on the phobia of the Kurdish people and the PKK phobia. The Kurdish people in Başûr are under very great pressure: "It has been occupied internally by the Turkish occupation. Many sectors such as transit, oil, military, security and intelligence forces are all under the control of the Turkish occupying state. It does this for specific goals and speaks of the expiry of the Lausanne Agreement on July 24, 2023 which means reviving the Turkish ambitions to annex the Kurdish Mosul to the Turkish territory. It keeps reminding the world as well as the Kurdish people of this message. Unfortunately, the ruling authorities in Başûr do not realize this, first they want to understand it."

'Attacks against southern Kurdistan and the plot against the Middle East'

Regarding the Great Powers' role in this issue "Everyone knows well that no regional power can act in isolation from the approval of America, England and its local ally such as Israel," Abdullah said. We cannot say that the KDP's moves that are planned and provoked  by Turkey were carried out in isolation from the United States of America. The newly American patriot missile system installed at Harir base in Başûr can counter a missile attack. The KDP's actions are closely linked  with targeting the Middle East and putting the Kurdish people in the first place under serious risks. It aims at annexing all other parts of Kurdistan with the Turkish state.  So it is a multi-parties plot in the region.

'This time the plan is bigger and stronger'

 Abdullah pointed to the internal contradictions between the Goran Movement and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK): "Because of the KDP's interventions, the two parties are facing ongoing internal conflicts. KDP seeks to join faction of the two parties to it in cooperation with the Turkish state which targets Başûr, Goran and PUK as well. The side conflicts between the two parties have hit a dead end that they cannot reach the common right and sound decisions to bring about any change though both realize that they are in great danger because the KDP is not only targeting the PKK this time, but also these two parties. The Democratic Party is seeking to consolidate its position at the expense of both parties. This poses a major threat to Başûr and the Kurdish people because this time the plan is strong and expanded. If things were the same as they were in 1975, we would have faced another Ash-Batal agreement, but we are facing Ash-Batal of another kind. It is good that there are other Kurdish movements in the rest of Kurdistan, so the KDP cannot single out the decision to participate in such a plot."

'Goran and  PUK positions contributed to the KDP's authority'

Abdullah also touched on KDP-Turkey understandings. He said that the KDP is working against the interests of the PKK and the Kurdish people.

KDP is supported by Turkey to strengthen influence at the expense of other political parties, adding in this regard: "The PKK is an alternative solution for the Kurdish people, in Başûr in particular. Therefore, they agreed on confronting the PKK. If this time the Kurdish people do not survive this disaster, they will step back several steps from achieving their rights. Unfortunately, Goran and PUK have contributed greatly to strengthening KDP's influence through their participation in the fully controlled KDP's government in 2011. The popular anti-government voices reached their peak, especially after the Arab Spring revolutions. Many dictatorships fell under the control of external forces, and Başûr also fell under the control of those forces. Unfortunately, Goran and PUK helped in muting protestors' voices and contributed to strengthening the power and influence of the KDP."

'At the time of the national unity, KDP provokes war'

At the time Kurdish people are looking forward to the national unity, KDP started to provoke war in Zîne Wartê. He also said: "It plain sight that Zîne Wartê issue is a sensitive issue, so intervening in it does not serve the Kurds that demand the national unity. The matter of interest for Kurds is unity, KDP existence in Zîne Wartê comes to the meaning that it wants to provoke war with PKK and PUK. KDP's reinforcements there is to enforce its forces there on the PUK expense. There has been an agreement over that area since 2000, and it is under PUK's influence zone. Guerrilla forces have been there for many years without any problems. Forces of the PKK are an important part of protecting Kurdistan against the occupation in 2014 in particular. It was a struggle against ISIS and it represents the Kurds' will. What is planned there is for eliminating PUK influence in that area. Unfortunately, KDP is involved in this plot."

It is clear that the fate of the Kurdish people in all parts of Kurdistan is linked to each other. Any problem that occurs in Başûr will directly affect other parts as well."

'The Democratic Party must get out of the embrace of its enemies'

He appealed to all the Kurdistan forces not to be drawn into Turkish plans, saying: "Don't be part of the plan led by KDP. We seek to defend the national unity. As much as we can defend the national unity and prevent any internal fighting among the Kurds, we will contribute to putting an end to the Turkish occupation policies. We therefore call on the KDP to return to the people, serve the people, and not to become a tool to serve Turkey."
