SDC: We witness stage requires resistance to obtain 2nd independence

On Friday, the Syrian Democratic Council issued a written statement to the public opinion on the occasion of the 74^th anniversary of the evacuation of the French mandate from Syria, which falls today, the 17^th of April.

The text of the statement included:

"The seventy-fourth anniversary of the evacuation comes at a time when Syria is burdened with many challenges and crises that afflict both the region and the world, as our country witnesses exceptional circumstances as more than half of the Syrians are outside their homes including the migrants, the displaced and refugees in all parts of the world, in addition to the destruction of infrastructure and the remarkable lower of the living standards.

 The Syrian crisis has deepened further by Turkey's occupation of multiple regions of northern Syria, in which it committed various forms of crimes; the systematic displacement of the indigenous population as happened in Afrin, Tel Abyad and Ras al-Ain, and the demographic change in these areas in addition to other Syrian regions subjected to the forced demographic change and the seizure of the people and civilians' properties there.

In addition, the new Corona pandemic has complicated the Syrian crisis at a time when this pandemic is politicized and prevents the arrival of international, regional and even local aid to five million Syrians to deal with this epidemic, and Ankara's regime contributes to its domination of our Syrian people in northern and eastern Syria through deliberate neglect, in addition to its constant threat to invade the whole of north Syria, empower the terrorist gangs and their mercenaries according to the same way that Ankara intended in Idlib, blackmail Europe through the flow of refugees and terrorists to it, and create a terrorist bridge to threat through which the entire region extending from northern Syria to western Libya.

On this national occasion, the Syrian Democratic Council hopes that the next year will be the year of détente and dissolution and affirms that all Syrian patriots from various ethnic, national, religious and sectarian components and from all different spectra of Syria must assume full responsibility. What we live today is dozens of times comparable to the difficulty our ancestors and our fathers lived 74 years ago, and we witness a stage that requires resistance to obtain the second independence and working realistically to solve the Syrian crisis according to its political path guided by the relevant international resolutions , especially the resolution 2254 in order to restore our abducted country to its Syrian people, and the achievement of Syria as a decentralized and democratic country according to its cultural and historical status, and the multiplicity and diversity of its cultures."
