This came at a press conference held by Adhanom on Wednesday, according to the American CNBC News.

"The United States of America is a generous and long-standing friend of the World Health Organization, and we hope it will continue to do so," Adhanom said.

"President Donald Trump's decision to halt Washington's financial aid to the world organization is regrettable."

He said WHO will go to other countries to provide for any gap in funding for efforts to fight the novel Coronavirus, which has turned into a global pandemic.

US President, Donald Trump announced Tuesday that he had directed his administration to suspend the funding for the World Health Organization ( WHO), saying it had failed to obtain sufficient information about the Coronavirus and publish it in a transparent manner.
