In a statement, al-Sadr said, “The two parties (America and Iran) contacted the resigned Prime Minister before the air strike ... Did he agree to implement it or not ...? God knows best.”

He added, “What concerns me now is that this severe crisis has passed, especially after Trump's speech and the speech of the Islamic Republic.”

Al-Sadr called for accelerating the formation of a strong government that restores to Iraq its prestige and independence in a period of no more than fifteen days and without political, parliamentary, sectarian or ethnic polemics and by nominating five candidates with integrity and experience so that a final candidate will be chosen to form an interim government to oversee the early elections and other things that we mentioned earlier.”

He added, “Enough recklessness from some political blocs. Enough stubbornness from the demonstrators, otherwise Iraq will be lost ... in order not to repeat these violations in the future by any of the neighboring countries or by the great evil of America.”

He stressed, “It is necessary to strive for ending the presence of the occupier and rein in its control and increasing influence and interference in the Iraqi affairs ... Our patience is almost exhausted due to the external interventions that do not take into account the interests of Iraq.”

Al-Sadr called on the Iraqi factions to be patient and patient, not start the military action and silence the voice of militancy of some of the disciplines until all political, parliamentary and international methods are exhausted.”

The Sadrist Movement’s leader advised “to close all headquarters of the Popular Mobilization so that it will not be a target for global arrogance, especially if our decision becomes the military resistance against the occupier in case it refuses to go out and exhaust all political means.”
