Saudi Arabia demands Brussels to remove foreign forces from Syria

Saudi Arabia today called for the preservation of Syria's independence and the expulsion of foreign forces from it.

Saudi Arabia's minister of state for foreign affairs, Adel al-Jubeir, said Saudi Arabia is looking forward to the result of preserving Syria's independence and unity and leading to the removal of foreign forces from it.

He noted, "We are consulting with the Arab brothers for a result that included the implementation of UN resolution 2254."

He added, "The Europeans and the Arabs face common challenges in the fight against terrorism and extremism, stressing that there are great promises to develop trade and investment between the two regions.

A ministerial conference for Arab and European countries is being held in Brussels in preparation for a joint summit to discuss the issue of the Syrian crisis.

Diplomatic sources told Asharq Al-Awsat that European countries have insisted on setting minimum political process items related to the implementation of UN resolution 2254 and supporting international envoy Geir Pederson.
