The Agriculture Committee provides farmers’ needs, expands agricultural area

The Agriculture Committee has worked on a number of data to determine the agricultural plan, namely the difficulties and obstacles facing the agricultural sector and the identification of the necessary procedures for the development of agricultural production.

The Agricultural Committee has developed a plan of action that includes increasing irrigated agricultural land and secures the needs of farmers in order to raise agricultural production in Shahba.

As the potato crop is one of the staple crops grown in Shahba canton, the Agriculture Committee seeks to increase the area cultivated with potato crop and ensure its production requirements as fuel oil, fertilizers and agricultural medicines for farmers.

The joint chairman of the Agriculture Committee of Shahba canton Iman Hussein said they provided the farmers with diesel, fertilizers and agricultural medicines.

She pointed out that the Agriculture Committee is working to ensure the needs of farmers to cultivate land "to improve the agricultural sector in the canton and create job opportunities for the people, especially Afrin people whose relationship is deep-rooted with agriculture and forced out of their homes as a result of the Turkish aggression."

"We have implemented part of the plan we set for 2019. We have secured the needs of the farmers. We distributed 14,000 barrels of diesel, 400 bags of compost and expanded the area of ​​agricultural land to 1,000 hectares," Iman said.
