Lawmakers urge Trump to protect Kurds after US withdrawal

The US news website of "Defense News" reported on Thursday that the senators Marsha Blackburn and Sen. Tammy Duckworth called on the President Trump to prevent the outbreak of a war between Turkey and Syrian-Kurdish Forces that fought alongside the United States against IS.

The website says, quoting from the senators, "If the United States has to avoid the irregular deployments of ground forces around the world, we must constantly implant reliable partners in the region who are ready and able to fight effectively against our common enemy on the ground."

The message also included, "Giving up the friends and not doing anything to prevent slaughtering them would undermine the Global Coalition to defeat IS and jeopardize our nation's honor."

The message follows reports stated that the United States is seeking to mediate in an agreement that would prevent Turkey from pursuing its threats to launch a full-scale military offensive in northern Syria.

According to a report by CNN, Trump met with the official in the Syrian Democratic Council (MSD), Ms. Ilham Ahmed, during a political fundraising campaign in Washington on Monday. In response to a question asked about whether he would allow attacking the Kurdish fighters, Trump said that he would protect them and added, "I love the Kurds."

The Senate majority leader announced his intention to use a law project related to the foreign policy that contradicts the US President Donald Trump's policies.
