“Turkey is IS gateway to Syria”

Svetlana, who was part of IS mercenaries' ranks, SDF had liberated her from ISIS in Hajin town during al-|Jazeera Tempest campaign. The Women Protection Units published a video of Svetlana recounting her journey from the moment of her entry to Syria and till her liberation by Syrian Democratic Forces.

'Turkey opened its borders for IS to enter Syria'

Svetlana says she entered Syria since four years ago. "I was living in Turkey and married there. After that, I decided to separate from my husband and live alone. I started to feel influenced by Islam. I decided to go to Manbij with a help of a man."

"I went with large groups to Manbij, but the largest proportion were Turks originally, and after a while I married the man who helped me to enter Manbij, and after a period, I traveled to Iraq."

Svetlana noted that ISIS mercenaries later killed her husband on charges of being a spy. "He saw them as wrong and said it in public, so the so-called securities had killed him."

Svetlana added that she married another man and had children, then they killed him too. "They are killing everyone."

'IS planted mines everywhere'

Svetlana said: "I have seen a lot of injustice by them. In the recent period, no one has been allowed to leave. They planted mines everywhere. They were terrorizing us in this way. There are many families who want to leave the area, but they are not allowed to leave. The parents there will die of starvation, when I was there I heard that a woman died of hunger, there is no greater than such injustice in the world. "

A long journey until reaching points close to SDF

Svetlana said she was forced to walk for 8 hours until she managed to reach points close to Syrian Democratic Forces. "We walked in the desert, I and my children for long distances, until Syrian Democratic Forces received us and provided us with food and shelter, I cannot compare these moments with the harsh days I had suffered.
