Washington officially withdraws from UNESCO

According to Palestinian Ma'an agency, the United States, after the departure from the international organization, will retain itself as an observer, and it will no longer pay its share of the funding of this international organization.

Earlier, the US State Department announced in October 2017 Washington's decision to withdraw from UNESCO, justifying that by bias against Israel and the need for fundamental reform of the organization.

It must be noted that the United States of America also announced in mid-2018 its withdrawal from the United Nations Human Rights Council, claiming that it did not implement the reforms requested by Washington, especially with regard to the position towards Israel.

It is worth mentioning that Israel is also on the way to withdraw officially from the (UNESCO).

Israel will cancel its membership in UNESCO a year after the Israeli government's announcement of its withdrawal from the organization.

The Israeli decision pointed out that it came because the organization took a series of decisions against Israel.
