MSD: Lavrov's statements on northern, eastern Syria worrisome

MSD issued a written statement on Monday to the public on its website, in response to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's comments on northern and eastern Syria.

The text of the statement:

"As part of a series of statements made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov regarding the American presence in northern and eastern Syria, his recent statement on the eastern part of the Euphrates and the Kurdish cause is suspicious and disturbing.

We in MSD, as a political party seeking to resolve the Syrian crisis peacefully and democratically We consider the Kurdish cause as a national issue that must be resolved in accordance with the international conventions. It must be dealt with constitutionally within the framework of Syria's unity. It affirms the rights that are entrusted to it with the rights of all components as a basic principle for establishing peace and security in the country, so we reject such statements, which contribute only to stir up unrest and destabilize the security and stability of the region, which has maintained civil peace and the lives of citizens, and fought IS terrorism and defeated it in its strongholds.

We confirm the independence of our decision and our free Syrian national will, and our total rejection of the inclusion of policies in the axes, as an instrument of incitement and extortion we call on the Russian government to pay attention to the devastating consequences of the Russian-Turkish agreement on Afrin and to stop crimes against humanity committed by the Turkish occupier and its terrorist mercenaries against Afrin and its people.
