Al-Sulaimania Asayîş surrounds Kurdistan Society Freedom Movement's headquarter

The Asayîş Forces in al-Sulaimania have surrounded the headquarters of the Kurdistan Society Freedom Movement in the city on Monday morning in order to close it in the pretext of not obtaining an official license from Kurdistan Region.

Asayîş Forces in al-Sualaimania cordoned off the headquarters of the Kurdistan Society Freedom Movement in an attempt to close the headquarters and stop the Movement's activities under a recent decision by Kurdistan Region's government to close every political organization that has not received a formal political work permit from the Ministry of the Interior."

In the meantime, the leaders of the Freedom Movement held an emergency meeting to discuss the new situation and take a position towards this procedure which they consider it to be unfairly to them as they have obtained official authorization from the Iraqi government, and before that and during the establishment of the movement in 2014, they had submitted all procedures for obtaining the license in the Kurdistan Region, but the Region's government did not respond to their request without providing an argument according to a statement of the Movement."

The Movement obtained the official license from Iraq on 4 January 2017.
