'Laila Koven represents free women's will'

The co-chair of the Democratic Society Congress and representative of the Democratic People's Party in Colêmerg Laila Koven has been on hunger strike for a while, announcing her hunger strike to break the isolation on the leader of the Kurdish people Abdullah Ocalan. After her strike, the prison administration decided to impose a one-month sentence on her.

Laila had been arrested 9 months ago for her position towards the Turkish attacks on Afrin.

In this regard, the co-chair of the Intellectuals Union in al-Jazeera Laila Ibrahim said that Laila Koven represents the free women's will who refuse to submit to male systems. Laila Koven's position shows her faith in the ideology of Ocalan and proves that the free will of women is stronger than all schemes plotted against the peoples.

Laila Ibrahim added, "It is well known that the Turkish occupation state is afraid of the powerful of women so it targeted them by arresting the female activists and politicians because the Turkish occupation realizes that the organization of women will lead to the collapse of their male authority; thus, they imposed a sentence on Laila Koven."

Laila appealed to all women of the world to unite and expose the practices of the Turkish occupation state which target women and punish them.

Turkey suppresses everyone who expresses their opinion

For her part, the member of the Intellectuals Union Huda Sheikhmos said that the arrest of Laila Koven and the imposition of punishment for her hunger strike are a kind of intensity exercised by the male mentality against women who reject injustice and demand their freedom and organization.

Huda said that the Turkish occupation state' authorities practiced a policy of muzzling the mouth and suppressing everyone who expresses their opinion, and so far, hundreds of politicians who refused to submit to their tyrannical regime have been existed in the prisons of the Turkish state."

Huda pointed out that they, as women, declare their solidarity with Laila Koven and support her noble position which embodies all moral meanings.
