Chaos in areas occupied by Turkey,  Russia procrastinates  on its steps after Idlib deal failed

The Arab press touched on Thursday morning upon the situation of the areas occupied by Turkey and its mercenaries and the failure to implement the Russian-Turkish agreement.

Al-Arab: Chaos prevails in Syrian areas controlled by Turkey

On the Syrian issue, al-Arab newspaper referred to the situation in the areas occupied by Turkey. It said, "The areas controlled by Turkey in Syria witness a state of security chaos. The people have tasted bitterness in these areas."

Turkey is trying to promote that its direct control or through its Syrian Islamic factions on areas in the countryside of Aleppo and the governorate of Idlib is considered as stabilizing factor. However, this is in fact contrary to what is promoted, where there is a state of security chaos amid a conflict on the influence among factions in addition to the security breaches, the latest of which was basting a booby–trapped car in Jarabulus city that left killed and wounded, most of them were civilians.

The same situation is applied to the predominantly Kurdish city of Afrin in the eastern countryside of Aleppo which was taken over by Turkish forces supported by opposition Syrian factions earlier this year. The people who were forced to stay there face almost daily abuses of arbitrary arrests, torture, persecution and abduction of civilians.

Observers say that in the context of the prevailing chaos, which does not consider the province of Idlib, which is subject to indirect Turkish influence an exception, this would be a heavy burden on Ankara and may eventually lead civilians to rise up against its existence.

As for the interference in the Syrian issue, al-Hayat newspaper recorded yesterday Tehran's attempt to exploit the tension between the Kurds and Ankara to increase its influence in the north of Syria, in light of information on the crowds of Iran in the eastern countryside of Aleppo. The developments come ahead of the summit that gathered the Russian Presidents Vladimir Putin and the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Istanbul, days before the departure of the international envoy to Syria Stefan de Mistura and in conjunction with the arrangements for the Astana summit of the guarantors which Russia is hosting at the end of the month.

In the same context, al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper said, "Moscow is holding international contacts before determining its next move on the Syrian file in the result of failing the implementation of the demilitarized zone agreement on Idlib, an agreement signed by Moscow with Ankara two months ago and is still in place despite the expiration of the deadline for its implementation.

The next round of negotiations in Astana at the end of this month looks like an attempt to adjust the hours between the two sides of the Astana track. According to a Russian diplomatic statement, "It is important to set common features for the next move against the backdrop of the continuing provocations in Idlib, the closure of the political settlement process and Washington's movements whose activation increases in Syria."
