Her return to art is of liberation's achievements

The young artist Fatima al-Sulaiman has been able to return to practice her hoppy which she has learned since childhood, sculpture which is considered an achievement of the liberation's achievements.

IS mercenaries have fought during the period in which they occupied large areas of Syria and Iraq all forms of art of painting, sculpturing and destroyed dozens of sculptures and statues on the pretext that they were idols according to their concept and fought all artists working in these fields

Fatima Sulaiman is one of the artists from al-Tabqa city who has considered the sculpture as a breath for herself to express some special and public matters. Except that she is a woman and was exposed to all kinds of oppression like all other women by IS, her second crime was the manufacture of idols in the words of IS so she stopped practicing her hobby and did not think about it in order to preserve herself and her dignity.

Fatima said, "I loved this hobby and clang to it because it has grown up with me since my childhood."

Fatima began to practice sculpturing at the age of 12 at the hands of one of the most famous teachers of art education in the city at that time.

She added, "When my fingers got used to the sculpturing tools despite the hardness of both sides, the tool and the sculpturing stones, I was so passionate about them that I turned the human feelings into softness in solid stone."

Fatima was disappointed after all her statues were destroyed by IS mercenaries who harassed her from time to time, not to mention the period when the mercenaries of the so-called "Free Army" occupied the city of al-Tabqa and corrupted them and fought all forms of art.

Today, Fatima Sulaiman is working on a memorial sculpture commemorating the fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces who were martyred in defense of their values and for the liberation of al-Tabqa, taking from the restored section of the Cultural Center a renewed habitat for her art.

It is worth mentioning that the sculptor Fatima al-Sulaiman will participate with several other artists in the revival of the "Day against Violence against Women" on 25 November in a special exhibition for women.
