Mari al-Shibli: Demographic change of occupied lands is a repeat of previous occupations

The talk of the member of the Presidential Body of MSD, Mari al-Shibli, came in an interview with ANHA agency about the fate of the areas occupied by the Turkish occupation state since 2016.

He said, "The most dangerous conspiracies are the Turkish conspiracies which aim to change the demography of the areas in Syria and repeat the scenario of land-cutting from Syria such as the Iskenderun."

He added, "There is a contradiction between the statements of the President of the Justice and Development Party Recap Tayyip Erdogan and the reality in the occupied areas, where Erdogan confirms that he aims to spread security and stability, but on the other side, we see what violations are happening in the regions of Jrablos and Azaz, al-Bab and Afrin. Syrian identities are replaced by Turkish ones. How can I be Syrian and hold a Turkish identity."

He added that Turkey aims to establish a postal in al-Bab city directly linked to Turkey. He continued, "They will also establish a large industrial city for the Economic Council related to the Turkish traders and work to open roads between the Turkish states and the Syrian cities they occupied such as Rajo-Hatay highway. In all the occupied areas, the Turkish flag is raised.  

Al-Shibli noted in his speech, the policy of the occupier reminds us of the days of the French mandate in which the Iskenderun was cut off, and we will not forget the areas of Kilikia which has always been followed by the Abbasid state, so there are precedents. We can say that Erdogan is trying to repeat history."

Al-Shibli added, "Whoever says that he will occupy the north and north-east of Syria, we will fight him with our aspirations and we will defend our history and culture, and the evidence is the battles taking place in Deir ez-Zor and Hajin to liberate them from IS mercenaries."

He concluded, "We will work to restore everything that is our historic right, and I wish the Syrian state and all its employees to work for a new constitution that guarantees the right of everyone to start dialogue and expel the occupiers who want to cut off our lands."
