'No honor for crime'

The woman's coordination in the Kurdish Red Crescent expressed her solidarity with the victims of crimes committed under the pretext of honor. "There is no honor for the crime," she said. She called on all international organizations to stand up against this phenomenon.

On 29 October each year, the International Day of Solidarity with "Victims of Honor Crimes", in solidarity with the victims of this crime, the Kurdish Red Crescent Women's coordinatioin relaesed a statement, read in front of the public park in Qamishlo city, . "There is no honor for the crime," the statement said.

The text of the statement:

This is dated, the day of 2009, comes after a fatal acquittal of his sister from a criminal rooms in Syria on 29 October 2009, where the Observatory of Women of Syria announced on Monday a World Day of Solidarity with Victims of Honor Crimes under the slogan A day to remember that this crime will not become a black history unless we all face it tirelessly, without indulgence and without excuses."

"A crime of honor is a crime committed by a man in the family or a relative in the case of a girl for committing adultery and illegitimate relations. The perpetrator claims that he committed this to preserve honor and washshame."

The women's coordination in the Kurdish Red Crescent expressed its solidarity with the victims of this crime, she said "We, on behalf of the Women's Coordination in the Kurdish Red Crescent, declare our solidarity with the victims of honor crimes, due to continuation of the murder of women and girls in the name of honor and the diversity of methods and means of committing them, the expansion of resort to the use of harmful practices and the increase in the number of persons inciting and interfering and implementing and the lawlessness and lack of protection of women and girls."
