Elham Ahmed: Al-Raqqa to be free women’s capital after IS’ alleged capital

Al-Raqqa city's people have celebrated for al-Raqqa liberation's first anniversary after it was liberated from IS gangs during a ceremony held in the black stadium in the presence of thousands of people, fighters in the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the Self-Defense Duty, political figures and clans' notables.

During the celebration, many speeches were delivered, including the speech of the head of the Executive Council of the Syria Democratic Council (SDC) Elham Ahmed who said, "A salute of love and appreciation to all those who contributed to the liberation of al-Raqqa city and the restoration of security and stability to it. Our people in free al-Raqqa, here and a year ago, the capital of injustice and darkness fell and IS defeated.

And she added, "This is the victory that the martyrs made with their blood. This victory is dear to all of us and would not have been possible without the sacrifices of SDF. These sacrifices have opened the door to stability and security at a difficult stage and unmatched challenge in terms of existence and survival which resulted in the unity of the people and the return of life that Daesh wanted it to die, but we defeated them and life won.

We have overcome difficulties during the days of liberation and we will overcome difficulties in the construction stage

Elham continued, "The liberation of al-Raqqa has opened wide doors for the return of its people to their homes and normal lives after displacement, and today, al-Raqqa rises again to register in the history record that it defeated terrorism, and that the will of life within our people is stronger than the will of death. Al-Raqqa was handed over to its people after the establishment of al-Raqqa Civil Council to start the stage of construction, reconstruction and stability. As we promised you to win and liberate the land, we have put forward the full plans and strategies for the reconstruction and we have begun to implement them. The results will be clear to the people of al-Raqqa. We have overcome the difficulties during the days of liberation. We will also overcome them during the construction and reconstruction phase so that the children of al-Raqqa will enjoy their city. We guarantee a safe and speedy return for all displaced persons and refugees.

AL-Raqqa will be the capital of free women

In her speech, Elham Ahmed said that al-Raqqa would be the ideal model for the decentralized and democratic Syria, and that it would be the capital of free women which was at the forefront of the campaign to liberate the city and restore stability to it. Al-Raqqa will become a historic turning point in the whole of Syria, and these victories will have an impact on the regional and international levels."

Elham said, "We must cooperate in the face of all possibilities that may undermine the security and stability of al-Raqqa city because the protection of the city is required from the people of the area."

The head of the Executive Committee of the Syria Democratic Council, Elham Ahmed, said at the end of her speech, "A thousand greetings to the fathers, mothers and wives of the martyrs who have offered dear and noble in defense of their dignity and the dignity of their nation, and a salute to the wounded strugglers who lost part of their body to sow the smile on the heroes’ faces and a salute to the fighters on the fronts and the steadfast in the face of terrorism."
