Several days ago, clashes broke out between the fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces and IS mercenaries in al-Marashda village, so what is the importance and strategy of this village for the fighters, and what are the military tactics which is used by IS mercenaries?

Al-Marashda village is located between al-Safafna village and al-Sousa town, which are still occupied by IS mercenaries. The importance of the village lies in the fact that the Euphrates bank is surrounded it by three axes.

Since IS mercenaries were besieged to a narrow geographical area after the successive defeats they have received from the Syrian Democratic Forces fighters, most of the leaders of IS mercenaries gathered in this region, where foreign mercenaries form the majority of those who remain. These mercenaries follow military methods and tactics in al-Marashda village to stand in front of the progress of the SDF fighters, as the area close to the river, geographically encircled by greenery and dense trees and houses, which helps IS mercenaries to hide and move freely among them and planting mines heavily in the region to disable the progress of SDF fighters.

As SDF' fighters have uncovered the tactics of IS mercenaries, they advanced cautiously and vigilantly in al-Marashda village to avoid the heavy mines planted by IS mercenaries.

The clashes took place between the SDF' fighters and IS mercenaries inside the village, where the fighters advanced several kilometers, and during the clashes, dozens of mercenaries were killed and the ranks of mercenaries were dispersed. The fighters seized a warehouse for the manufacture of ammunition and rocket-propelled grenades in al-Marashda village.

It is noteworthy that the leadership of the Syrian Democratic Forces in the 11th of last September, the final phase of al-Jazeera Tempest campaign to eliminate the remains of IS mercenaries in the east of the Euphrates River, which is still ongoing.
