Free Media Union calls on international community to stop Turkish violations against journalists

The Free Media Union denounced the Turkish arbitrary policies against journalists aiming at mute many mouths and media obscurity of the current repercussions in the Turkish interior. He called on the international community and human rights organizations to pressure the Turkish authorities to stop their practices which violate the standards of the international press.

This came in a statement issued by the Free Media Union in Rojava and North Syria, in which it said:

"The Turkish authorities continue to arrest journalists since the declaration of a state of emergency after the military coup in July 2016.

The most recent of which was the arrest of 100 journalists and politicians in Amed city, coinciding with the anniversary of the international conspiracy against the leader of the Kurdish people Abdullah Ocalan. Among the detained journalists were "Abdul Rahman Kok, Kabria Afern and Samiha Alankul" and the co-chair of the Democratic Peoples' Party in Amed Mohammad Sharif Jamji.

We in the Free Media Union condemn the arbitrary policies against journalists aimed at muting the mouths and the media blackout of the current repercussions in the Turkish interior.

We call on the international community and human rights organizations to pressure the Turkish authorities to stop their practices which violate the standards of the international press, which are supposed to protect the right of free expression for all.
