Health Committee in Girê Spî seeks to resolve scarcity of health centers

The problem of the paucity of health centers has existed for decades, but the people of the region hope from the Autonomous Administration to solve the problem that they say is a source of suffering for them.

Two districts are located in Girê Spî canton, they are Ain Issa and Suluk, as well as the center of Girê Spî center, which is also considered as a district as well, and 7 towns: al-Jirn, al-Zaidi, al- Sharka, al-Hisha, al-Kharza, Ali Baglia and Hamam al-Turkman.

In all districts and towns, there are no health centers, either hospitals or clinics, except in Suluk district, where there is a health clinic dealing with emergency cases only, in addition to the hospital in Girê Spî city called "National Hospital."

Ain Issa district was contained a hospital, but the hospital was transferred to al-Raqqa city, so Ain Issa stayed also without a hospital.

A resident of al-Zaidi village said that they face many problems during the patient's ambulance and his transfer to the hospital due to the limited number of hospitals and health centers in the area.

Abdul Maruf said "In private hospitals, they treat patients very heavily. This is a big problem for the people. Not every citizen can be treated in this hospital if he does not have enough money."

He called on Health Organizations to open a national hospital to the people for treatment.

Girê Spî is one of the most important areas of displaced people from various parts of Syria. It has a camp for the displaced in Ain Issa, which has about 13,000 displaced people, but lacks adequate health services so residents live on it to Girê Spî or private clinics for treatment.

The administrator of the Health Committee in Girê Spî canton, Dr. Ali Othman, presented some solutions to provide a number of health centers in the districts and towns.

He said in an interview with ANHA agency "We know that the people are suffering from difficulties in this regard, so we opened as a first step a first-aid clinic in Suluk district.

"Soon, we will open two dispensaries in the towns which are far from the center of the city, and in remote villages we will coordinate with the communes, while there are emergency cases to contact the section of the ambulance that will be directed to them to help."

He said that many Health Organizations were present in the region but did not provide adequate assistance. He therefore asked the World Health Organization (WHO) to help them improve the health conditions of the people in the region.
