Syrian Jurists , Activists Forum concludes by issuing final statement

The activities of the Syrian Women's Jurists and Activists Forum, which was held in Kobanî, which brought together women from all the Syrian provinces in the resistance castle , after discussing the last axis in the forum, which was about the demands to ratify women's constitutional rights, in addition to reading the final statement.

After discussing the rights of Syrian women activists in Kobanî city within the forum many of the axis related to women and their laws within the constitution and within the Democratic Autonomous Administration, they touched on the last axis of the stages passed by the Syrian constitution and the status of women.

In the last axis, items were read from the stages passed by the Syrian constitution from the beginning of its establishment until the present time, and the role and status of women within the constitution. It was read by a member of the General Coordinator of the Syrian Women's Council Lina Barakat. ,the discussions then focused on the demand for new laws for women within the new Syrian constitution that guarantee all women rights.

After the discussions were concluded by the participants, the final statement of the forum was read by a member of the Preparatory Committee of the Forum Estera Qasim.

She said "The first forum of Syrian women's rights and activists took place in Kobanî city on 2018-10-5 in the presence of more than 200 rights activists and from Syria and representatives of political parties, civil society organizations and women's organizations from different cities and regions of Syria.

The forum discussed the following topics:

The first axis : International conventions and UN resolutions on women, read by lawyer and activist Inam Nayouf and Siham Qariwi.

The second axis: the status of women in the Syrian personal status law, read by the lawyer Khadija.

The third Axis: Women's Laws in Democratic Autonomous Administration read by Attia Yousef.

The fourth axis: the constitutional demands of Syrian women, read by Lina Barakat and Insaf Slatin.

All the mentioned axis were enriched by the discussions and interventions of the participants in the forum and ended with a number of demands for women, which must be constitutionally included in Syria's new constitution. In conclusion, the committee was chosen to follow up on the forum's activities.

Estera Qasim concluded reading the statement and said, "Together, toward consolidate women's constitutional rights to ensure the building of a democratic Syria."
