Yathrib village: water shortage despite presence of water station

There are many reasons for the lack of water in the countryside of Tal Hamis district, especially the southern regions, which vary from one region to another, including natural causes.

Causes of water shortage in the southern areas of Tel-Hamis

The main reason is the shortage of groundwater in some areas of Tel Hamis and its acquisition of excessive salinity as a result of the water of the Al-Ahim River contaminated with oil well water, which caused pollution in the fresh water of wells that were drilled at a depth of 150 meters, in addition to excessive water consumption in areas with abundant water.

Solutions to reduce water shortages

The solution can be through eliminating the causes of any other problem, such as the activation of stations in full, and maintenance of water networks, drilling wells and isolating it from salt water in areas suffering from salinity of water, or providing tanks for water transport water for people at affordable prices.

Ahmad al-Daham a resident of the village said, “There is a water station in the village that pumps several villages (Taqlob, Wael, Eastern Granada and Western Granada), and there is a special section to pump water to the village of Yathrib, but the station submersible has been out of service for more than a year."

Water Directorate has not responded to the Water Committee yet

A member of the water committee at Tal Hamis district Ahmed al- Obeid said that the Yathrib drainage plant is out of service and can no longer be maintained, so the submersible must be replaced with another new one in cooperation with the residents.

Al-Abdullah said, "We have submitted several books to the Water Directorate in Qamishlo canton, for the extinct submersibles, but the Directorate has not responded to our request so far."
