"Turkish practices non-existent neither in international conventions nor in religious laws"

This came during the ANHA agency interview with the jurist Radwan Rifai, where he commented on the practices against the leader of the Kurdish people Abdullah Ocalan, the latest is to prevent his lawyer from meeting him for 6 months.

Rifai said at the start of his speech "these practices do not exist in international laws and conventions, not even in religious laws, where every detainee has the right to meet with his family and lawyers."

Rifai stressed that according to the basic principles of dealing with prisoners issued by the General Association of the United Nations, all prisoners must be treated in a manner that protects their dignity and respect them.

He added "No distinction should be made between prisoners and detainees in terms of race or color. Religious beliefs and cultural principles must be respected. The basic rights of prisoners must be preserved in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights."

Rifai pointed out that the Turkish state violated all international laws and charters by imposing the isolation on Abdullah Ocalan.

He noted "since July 27, 2011, Ocalan lawyers have not been allowed to meet with their client, nor have they been allowed to receive or send messages."

At the end of his speech, Radwan appealed to all jurists and lawyers as well as international human rights organizations to face these practices, which he described as immoral.
