Psychological support project launched in al-Shahba

The campaign that was launched under the title “I Have the Right to Learn” is divided into two parts. The first is the activity group which is represented by two cartoon characters, “Shaho and Shamla” as they enter among the children to encourage them to study and be educated.

The second part is awareness-raising lectures for the people of the camps. The lectures include the importance of education and the limitation children’s work in addition to the danger of dropping out them from schools to the individual and the progress of society.

The campaign will include Berxwedan, Serdem, Afrin and al-Shahba camps. It is scheduled that the campaign will also include al-Shahba schools in case the opportunities are available according to the members of the committee.

The members of the committee pointed out that next week, the second phase of the psychosocial support project will begin after the end of the first stage. The stage will include awareness-raising lectures for the people which are related to psychological aspects, as well as educational guidance and cultural and recreational activities for the children. The duration of the second stage will be between two and three months.

In this context, the Psychological Support Committee of the Social and Labor Affairs Body organized in cooperation with the Kurdish Red Crescent an awareness-raising lecture for the women of Serdem camp on the importance of educating the children.

The lecture was given by the member of the Kurdish Red Crescent Hanan Mohammed who spoke at the beginning about the school dropout, noting that this step affects not only the leaky, but the whole family and thus the entire society.

Hanan pointed out that the reason for this phenomenon is the conditions that Syria is going through in general and the preference of the children labor for studying because of the difficulty of securing a living.

Hanan pointed out that by educating and raising the awareness of the generations, a civilized society will be created that will be aware of the principles of democracy and the culture of societies.

In turn, the mothers who attended the lecture stressed that they would send their children to schools, and would not be influenced by what the Turkish occupation and its terrorist mercenaries intend to impose on Afrin residents.
