Pumping station rehabilitated in al-Tabqa

Before defeating IS by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) since a year and a half, the mercenaries looted and destroyed all parts of the station east of al-Tabqa city of the 20 km, which led to getting the station completely out of service, which negatively affected the farmers, and led to the suspension of agriculture for the last season.

According to the co-chair of the Directorate of Cultivation of al-Tabqa Khalid al-Askar, the technical workshops of the directorate began maintenance work about two months ago in cooperation with a local organization working in the area, after engineering units completed the removal of mines left by IS mercenaries in the station and its surroundings.

He added "maintenance will include the provision of electric ground transmission cables, electronic control panels, maintenance of external pressure and exhaust pipes to and from the pump, and securing electrical circuit breakers"

Al-Wedian station contains 12 pumps with a capacity of approximately 600 hp.

The station provides irrigated water for 1650 hectares distributed over four villages "Hamarin, Bayoud, al-Fiteh and Wadi". It is fed through underground pipes that branch out from the second station.

The station operates on a consistent mechanism of action. It works to draw water from the channel that flows from the main Yamama channel east of al-Tabqa. The sub-channel is 12-meter wide and the main channel reaches 20 meters.

After pumping water from the sub-channel, 7 pumps at the station, pump the water into the collection basin, where it connects with the other 5 pumps with irrigation channel of up to 7 meters. The station pumps water to the agricultural land through the ground pipes.

Al-Tabqa area and its countryside includes 4 water pumping stations for agricultural land, al-Sewdia station which irrigates 1052 hectares, the above-mentioned al-Wedian station, the two stations of al-Jarnia which are currently out of service.
