Proposals to improve agricultural, animal water reality

The annual meeting of the General Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock in al-Jazeera region will continue for the second day in a row with the participation of members and administrators of the public administration in al-Jazeera region and the newly liberated areas of Deir ez-Zor and al-Raqqa, the directors and members of the Women's Economy "Kongra Star" and representatives of Cooperative Societies Confederation in al-Jazeera region.

The work of the annual meeting of the General Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock in al-Jazeera region for the second day began with the proposals and the extensive discussions to develop the agricultural, animal and water sector in the area.

The participants discussed the possibility of creating a laboratory for analyzing the pesticides that come from outside the region because the pesticides are ineffective and spread diseases among crops, finding a plan to get rid of seeds that do not suit the approved specifications, as well as providing vaccines for the animals due to the spread of many diseases among the animals in addition to working to stop the export of livestock, secure pastures and feed and support livestock breeders.

The participants also stressed the necessity not to operate and dig new wells to maintain balance and infrastructure, prepare programs to irrigate the agricultural crops from dams, not to waste groundwater, rely on rains in winter and not operate wells because they negatively affect the agricultural lands when it is salty in some areas.

The participants also discussed the possibility of setting up a special agricultural center to regulate agriculture matters in Qamishlo and al-Hasakah cantons, establishing the Farmers' Union to develop and organize them according to the cooperative societies, forming a committee to follow up their work and holding meetings for the farmers in the event of occurring any problems or damage to their crops.

The discussions also covered the mechanism of securing seeds, fuel oil and fertilizer for the farmers, and distributing the seeds by debt to the farmers during the current season to help them plant winter crops because the crops were damaged due to the lack of rainfall and climatic fluctuations and forming a committee to check the wheat coming from outside the region.

After completing the discussions and listening to all views, the rules of procedure of the Agriculture, Livestock and Water Resources Foundation of al-Jazeera region were read and the participants discussed the rules of procedure to make the necessary changes.

The meeting is scheduled to end with adopting the rules of procedure and coming out with a number of resolutions that serve the development of the agricultural reality in the area.
