Project provides work for 100 people from Afrin

After the forcible departure of the people of Afrin as a result of the attacks of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries on 20 January, the people settled in al-Shahba canton, at a time when the canton suffered from the devastation caused by the war in the area two years ago.

In the absence of employment opportunities in al-Shahba canton, the Economic Body began in distributing loans to help the people to open projects within the canton and provide employment opportunities for the people.

One of these projects is the hot red pepper project, which employs 100 workers. They bring large amounts of peppers, wash and dry them under the sun, and then grind them in Kafer Naya district to prepare hot pepper.

Abdel Aziz Hamo, a resident of Afrin from Deka village in Rajo area said, "This project was a good opportunity for the people of Afrin to get a chance to work and to secure their livelihood, the worker's wages are 3,000 to 3,500 per kilo per day."

Hamo pointed out that they will sell the stored quantities of pepper in al-Shahba canton after completion, if not sold as desired, they plan to export outside the al-Shahba canton through traders.

"We were unemployed as a result of leaving our homes, and after these projects, we started work so that we could secure a livelihood," Othman Ali, a resident of Afrin said.
