Malignant diseases increase in Turkey

The opposed Republican People's Party (CHP) in Turkey has warned of the spread of anthrax malignant disease in the country and warned that other diseases would follow if the authorities fail to fill the health gaps in the importation of animals.

According to the deputy of the People's Party of the Turkish Parliament Ali Jekir, the anthrax cases that have recently registered in Turkey are caused by gaps in the local laws for the importation of animals, and if the matter would not be treated, other diseases would enter the country.

He urged the authorities to return the animals that transmitted the malignant disease to their home country, as well as to activate the quarantine to limit the disease according to what Sky News quoted from Turkish newspapers.

The Turkish parliament's warning comes in a statement after Turkey recorded several cases of anthrax in major cities such as Istanbul, Ankara and Sivas amid a health concern during the last week.

The first case of anthrax was recorded in a farm in Ankara. The Turkish authorities said that 4,000 animals which were imported from Brazil were infected with anthrax, while several animals died before Eid al-Adha in August.

In Istanbul, the most populous city in Turkey, 48 people went to the hospital after being suspected of anthrax, 6 of them were subjected to the medical treatment according to what the Ministry of Health on Sunday.

Legislators in Turkey said that the authorities fail to monitor the health procedures so the door is open to various diseases.
