Al-Raqqa women are ready to receive winter

Women in al-Raqqa are like all women North Syrian cities. Every year, as winter approaches, women prepare the winter's hoard, which often requires effort and fatigue until it is successfully completed.

Household's hoard is therefore an important business in which women work to provide their basic needs for economic self-sufficiency for their families, which is the storage of foods that do not exist in winter.

Towards the end of summer season, in order to provide a self-sustaining economy, the women of al-Raqqa tend to prepare the household's hoard for winter because they are not available in winter and the prices are high. Therefore, women tend to provide vegetables, legumes, grains and pickles in special ways, and this helps her to achieve self-sufficiency.

Where the women are currently preparing the okra, pepper paste, tomato paste, eggplants, jams of all kinds, Kashk, mulukhya and pickles", and these foods are kept in winter, and the hoard is better and more tasty than canned.

"In these months of the year, we start preparing vegetables, pickles and grains to keep them for winter because they are not available and expensive. Every housewife works to store her home's hoard, so the household hoard is one of the habits inherited from one generation to another," mother Awash said.
