Official in Progressive Party: We advocate Syrian-Syrian dialogue

The statements of the central committee in the Kurdish Democratic Progressive Party in Syria Abbas Mostafa came during an interview held by Hawar news agency about the objectives of the dialogue held between the Syrian Democratic Council’s (SDC) delegation and the regime in order to solve the Syrian crisis.

Mostafa said, “Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, our opinion has been clear about the Syrian problem and that aim at understanding without neither killing nor destroying. We sought to preserve the country and save our cities and villages from destruction, but the external interventions led the situation to this level. It was supposed that the solution and dialogue would hold between the Syrians, people and the regime, but the situation was headed towards killing, destroying and the aerial bombardment.

The Syrian-Syrian dialogue is the only solution to end the Syrian crisis

Mostafa said that new conditions have taken place on the Syrian arena, especially in this period as a result of international and regional intervention in the Syrian situation. Mostafa added, “The military solution is not feasible and has not resulted in any peaceful solutions. The important thing is to get out of the current crisis with minimal losses. We advocate any understanding that would result in ending this crisis because we, the Syrians, have suffered so much from this ordeal, and the political solution is the only solution to get out of the destruction inflicted to all the Syrians.”

Mostafa also confirmed the importance of the dialogue with the regime in Syria, “Things have reached an extent that they would not be resolved only through dialogue. The Progressive Party was a pioneer in the dialogue and meeting with the regime openly despite that some have criticized. The regime is based in Damascus and there is a need for understanding and holding dialogue with it.”

Afrin must be returned to the homeland

Mostafa said, "Our areas are still safe and we thank all those who have sought to maintain security in these areas in North Syria.”

Mostafa also stressed the need to work on taking the Turkish occupation out of Afrin, “Afrin’s subject must be within this dialogue in order to return it to the homeland. Turkey is not entitled to stay there because the Syrian problem is between the Syrians and the Syrian regime, and any dialogue or negotiations must focus on the return of Afrin as a part of Syria to its indigenous people; in other words, the Kurds of Afrin.”

Uniting Kurdish rank reinforces our attitude during negotiations

Mostafa pointed to the requirement to unite the Kurdish opinion regarding the meetings and negotiations with the regime, “One party cannot be productive for the Kurdish people so a dialogue must be held among the Kurdish parties in Syria and we have to unite our goals. The Kurdish unity is necessary in this period and uniting the Kurdish rank reinforces our positions during the negotiations.”

The member of the central committee of the Kurdish Democratic Progressive Party in Syria Abbas Mostafa stressed that all the Kurdish political movement’s parties need to participate in the dialogue and negotiations, “The legitimate representative of the Kurdish people in Syria as a whole is the political movement so all the parties of the Kurdish movement must participate in the dialogue. We, in the Progressive Party, do whatever is placed at us. We are not against dialogue and understanding, even if only one party negotiates, but we stress the need to unite the Kurdish rank.”
