New municipalities without budget, people demanded services

The southern region of Tirbespiyê district in al-Jazeera region in north Syria is suffering from a lack of basic services, especially the areas recently liberated from grip of IS who have left behind them  much destruction. In order to bring life back to these areas, several municipalities have been formed after the recent elections of the Democratic Federations of north Syria, including Abo Farra Municipality, south of Tirbespiyê district.

Accumulation of garbage and disturbance in sewage network

The residents of the town demand to activate the municipality in a formal manner to be able to provide the necessary services for them. The citizen Abbas Saleha one of the resident of the town, confirmed that IS caused massive destruction and destroyed many vital facilities within the town, and called on the competent authorities to accelerate the work on the rehabilitation of sewage networks and provide the basic services for them as drinking water.

The member of Municipality Mahmoud El-Hilo noted that they receive complaints and requests from citizens to rehabilitate sewerage networks that pose a health hazard to the health of the town's residents by foul odors. He pointed out that the villagers of the town are constantly visiting the municipality to demand cleaning their villages of garbage.

Demanding the allocation of a budget so that they can meet the requirements of the people

The Co–chair of the People's Municipality in Abo Farra Manal al-Hilu has explained that the municipality is new and has not budgeted yet. She pointed out that they are constantly seeking to meet the aspirations of the people who elected them, and called on Municipalities’ Councils in Qamishlo canton to allocate a budget for them to be able to meet the requirements of people.

Administrator of the Executive Council of municipalities in Qamishlo city Massoud Youssef confirmed that they are allocating budget for the newly created municipalities, and extension of the necessary supplies, so that they can meet the requirements of the people and provide services to them and solve their problems.
