Reconstruction, restoration of al-Shariah School in Manbij

Dar al-Arqum Bin Abi al-Arqum al-Shariah School was built in 1993 and was the pioneer in al-Shariah teaching in Manbij city as thousands of students graduated from it till IS occupation of the city in March 8, 2014. IS turned the school into a stronghold for its mercenaries who spread ignorance and mess within the city in conjunction with stopping the education’s process.

The school has remained under the domination of IS for more than two years till it has been liberated by Manbij Military Council's fighters on July 17, 2016. The school has been exposed to destruction during the liberation.

The Religious Affairs Center of the Civil Democratic Administration of Manbij and its countryside began to work on the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the damaged parts of the school on June 1 after a workshop consisted of 20 members was organized under a committee of five persons.

This step comes as part of the efforts of the center to reform all religious centers as the center worked to prepare a statistics of the number of the destroyed religious centers for the purpose of reforming it.

The maintenance works include tiling and painting of walls and the construction and repair of damaged sides of the walls of the school, and it is expected to finish the work after 35 days.

The head of the Center of Religions in the Civil Democratic Administration in Manbij and its countryside Ali Jumaili said that they are supervising the work, and that the administration of al-Shariah School has been granted 2 million Syrian pounds by Manbij Administration for restoring and rebuilding al-Shariah School.

Jumaili concluded, "The work is to restore a cultural monument and bring it back to spread knowledge among all the people."
