27 of regime killed in surprise attack in Latakia countryside

27 elements of the regime forces were killed and about 40 got wounded in a surprise attack launched by the armed groups on an area close to the Syrian border with the Turkish-occupied Iskenderun area.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the armed gangs launched an attack on Atira area near the Syrian border with Iskenderun which is occupied by Turkey on Monday night.

According to the Observatory, the attack resulted in killing 27 members of the regime, including 8 officers, and injuring about 40 others, adding that the number of the killed is likely to rise because of the presence of critical cases, while the number of the armed gangs’ killed were not determined.

The Observatory noted that the armed gangs took control of Atira area in the northern of Latakia Mountains during the attack and forced the forces of the regime to withdraw from their positions.

The attack was the most powerful attack since nearly two years and was the biggest concerning the number of the human losses since about three years, while a holding pattern is spread in the northern of Latakia Mountains for the future situations’ developments.
