Security Council discusses serious humanitarian repercussions on al-Hodeidah

The United Nations Security Council will hold an emergency session on Monday to discuss the serious humanitarian consequences of the ongoing battles between Ansar Allah al-Houthi and the Saudi-led Coalition Forces near Hodeidah west of Yemen.

The office of the Council's Presidency which is managed by the Russian delegation to the International Organization for the current month announced that a closed consultations session will be held on Monday morning.

The Russian delegation said that representatives of the member states would hold a closed consultations session about Yemen at 11:00 am on Monday at the local time in New York City.

Diplomatic sources indicated that the closed consultations session will discuss the repercussions of the ongoing battles around al-Hodeidah and its impact on the humanitarian assistances reaching throughout Yemen.

Last week, the United Nations warned of a humanitarian catastrophe of the ongoing battles more than two weeks ago in al-Hodeidah governorate in western of Yemen.
