Popular initiative to rehabilitate Dahli Tourist Park

In a voluntary popular initiative, a number of Allya villages youth are working in Girkê –Legê district to protect, fence and reforest Dahli tourist area. While People's Municipality in Girkê –Legê contributed to support the initiative

Girkê- Legê district's villages with a number of beautiful landscapes is considered tourist destination for the people in region during spring and summer for enjoyment. One of these parks is Dahli park: it is forest area with springs and trees located south Qarko north Girkê –Legê district.

Aiming to protect, beautify and plant this tourist spot, a number of young people from Qarko and Sheikh Ibrahim, the villages organized a voluntary campaign to fence the area, clean the spring and establish small swimming pools for children.

The purpose is to increase the number of hiking areas and protect them

The village youth initiative received widespread support from the people, as a number of parents donated money to support the project.

One of the young participants in the campaign, Mohammed Shafa Mahmoud, a resident of Qarko village said that the aim of the initiative is to increase the number of tourist parks in Allya villages especially after the Turkish state prevented people from going to the parks of Ain Dewar village in Derik area near the border.

Planting trees, fencing the cultivated area and building swimming pools for children

The young man Dildar Ahmed one of Sheikh Ibrahim pointed to a decrease in the number of trees in the park area due to decrease in the percentage of water in the spring and the lack of rainfall and neglect, so the volunteer campaign focused initially on reforestation area, where 250 trees were planted as a first stage. In order to protect the trees, the area was fenced with metal wire.

The People's municipality supports the campaign

The Environment Office of People's Municipality in Girkê –Legê district, appreciate the Youth Initiative and to provided the necessary support to them.

Administrator of the Environment Office of People's Municipality Maher Suleiman said that People's Municipality contributed to the project through the planting of 190 forest trees in cooperation with young volunteers from the surrounding villages.

Sulaiman confirmed that the second stage of the project support will include asphalting the road to the park area.
