Women's Association in Aleppo: reference to women to solve social problems

Women's Association for Training and Awareness was established for the first time in al-Sheikh Maksoud neighborhood of Aleppo in late November 2011 with the aim of educating, organizing and resolving women's issues.

Since then, the women's association in al-Sheikh Maksoud neighborhood has been able to be a reference for all women, it has taken several steps towards organizing and developing women in all its components and has endeavored to implement the laws of women to protect them and protect their rights.

A variety of social, organizational and awareness activities

The Association organizes its activities on a number of axes in order to serve the basic objectives of women in their Arabic, Kurdish, Christian and Turkmen components through organization and social aspects, including awareness and solving problems and protecting her from the society concepts as early marriage, divorce, polygamy and others.

The Women's Association is interested in resolving the women's issues, the most common cases of the Association are: "Early marriage, divorce and polygamy", its solution is to satisfy the parties through discussion and finding solutions through coordination with the communes and Social Justice Court.

But if the issue is difficult and its solution was complex, it will be turned to Asayîş, and in most cases, the number of cases that come to the Association during the week from 3 to 5 cases.

In ​​the education field, the Women's association played an important role through education in Kurdish and Arabic languages in the framework of women's ability to write and read, and dozens of Kurdish language and literacy groups graduated through coordination between the Association and Democratic Community Education Committee.

Women’s laws … Protect and contribute to reduce problems

The Association sought to implement women's laws aimed at protecting women and protecting the principles and morals of the people in the neighborhood, despite their suffering, so that they could reach the desired results and to every woman to get rid of the restrictions imposed on them, mini-meetings in the neighborhood and then discussions in order to contribute as much as possible to reduce problems and differences in the community.

"Since the beginning of opening of Women's Associations, women have been distinguished in a special way, and women have been able to overcome the obstacles that have hampered their way,” considering that the Association is the primary reference for all women, the administrator in Women's Association for Training and Awareness Brishan Rashid confirmed in this context.

She added that all the revolutions which the women had their own mark in it, and yet there are still thousands of women suffer from the mindset of customs and traditions and are still raped and killed and forced to marry early, and had to be the women's key role to stand in front of those customs so as not to be victims of community.

Brishan called on all women to be hesitant about women's home to receive their training and develop themselves because women lead society and a free society can only be free with women's emancipation.
