On Kurdish Language Day… a culture and identity’s day for Kurdish people

The Kurdish people have been celebrating since 2006 the May 15th as the Kurdish Language Day, a language shared by the Kurds all over the world.

After several years of tough times the Kurdish language went through, the language is experiencing a renaissance from many aspects where literature is developing and spreading as the institutions support it increase.

Mazloum Jamo, an administrator in the Kurdish Language Institution in Kobani said that the Rojava revolution contributed to noticeably developing the Kurdish language where schools, institutions and universities that embraced thousands of students in Rojava have been opened.

The Kurdish language is one of the ancient languages in the Mideast area which is considered the cradle of human civilization, not only it is the most ancient, but also the richest despite many an attempt to obliterate it, still, it strongly preserved its existence contrary to many others subjected to the melting pot of other occupying state’s.   

Mazloum said that the language is the identity of peoples “The Kurdish language represents an original identity and culture for our people, it is essential to build an educated generation knowing its language, this is what we worked on as the teachers of the Kurdish language.”

Mazloum sees that the Kurdish language is achieving a considerable progress in all aspects, thus it is the adopted language at the schools.”
