My profession “gold bracelet on my wrist”

Fatima Mohammed is 60-years-old Turkmen and a mother of six, from Serî Kaniyê city. After her husband died 8 years ago, she began to sew clothes by hand to support herself and her family through this work.

Fatima talked about learning this profession saying  "I learned this manual art from a young age from my aunt, and because my aunt was aware of the importance of manual labor, I came to learn this artwork with great enthusiasm until I mastered it she wanted me to learn too "When I was a child I would work on the light of a lantern. I did not give up my work even in the most difficult circumstances, where I sew the beautiful clothes with my hands."

Fatima Mohammed is mother of five girls and one boy, who supports her children and believes in their needs. Fatima's work grows in the winter. Fatima said: "The clothes that are sold in the market are expensive; so many people come to me to sew them. Many of my acquaintances bring me woolen threads and I make them beautiful clothes. I also take into account the difficult economic conditions of the people. I'm not taking a lot of money from them. With my work, I provide part of the needs of society."

Fatima Mohammed described her work in gold and said: "handicraft is a gold bracelet, I sew clothes, decorate headdresses with beads, make hats, gloves and children's clothes with colored woolen threads."
