A group of artists condemned their comrade’s kidnap, demanded his freedom

Several days ago, the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries kidnapped the popular artist Aslan Jan while he was returning to his birthplace in Shia district in Janders area in Afrin. About this matter, Hawar news agency held meetings with his comrades who are living in al-Shahba canton.

In this context, the artist Ahmad Ali said, “We, as the members of the Artists Union, denounce and condemn this inhumane practice by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries; they have no right to kidnap the artists without any reason. The artist Aslan Jan has no connection with any political or military side. Everything he does is showing the suffering of the people through his songs, but the Turkish occupation is kidnapping the people haphazardly, so that we demand to release him and all the kidnapped.”

While the artist Ahmad Khani stated, “We want to know the reason of his being arrested, he was an artist for his homeland, and he was connected to his homeland’s soil; Afrin, and this was his only motivation that pushed him to return to his birthplace Shia district. Aslan was our companion in art, he is far cry from politics, and all what he has are his lovely voice, good heart and his passion for his homeland.

The artist Niyazi Sido said, “The Turkish occupation army does not know the measures of humanity. It loots, steals, kills, kidnaps the civilians without any reason and destroys the people’s possessions in Afrin. And days ago, it kidnapped the artist Aslan Jan as so far, we have not obtained any information about him. We demand the international sides to put pressure on the Turkish occupation to release all the kidnapped.”
